Halloween is definitely going to look different this year, so how about you adopt one new practice and offer your house as a teal pumpkin safe house! The Teal Pumpkin Project aims to provide safe houses during trick or treating so that little kids with food allergies don't feel left out or "weird" during trick or treating!

You can put out a teal pumpkin (they are available for purchase tons of places such as here* or paint it yourself!) to alert families that your house is safe for their little ones. It is typical to either provide non-food treats or allergen friendly treats from the teal pumpkin. If you are new to finding allergen friendly treats, I'll be sharing some below that are great options!

Enjoy Life Foods Chocolate:

Buy here*

Enjoy Life Foods is a staple in the food allergy community because all of their products are top 8 allergen free (gluten, dairy, eggs, shellfish, fish, nuts, tree nuts, and soy) and are made in a dedicated allergen free facility! They have these adorable minis for Halloween that are a variety pack of their three types of chocolate -"milk" chocolate, dark chocolate, and crispy chocolate (think Crunch bar).

YumEarth:

YumEarth is another great brand that is super allergen friendly. For Halloween, they have lollipops that are top 8 allergen free, organic, certified gluten free, certified non-GMO, vegan, nut free, and kosher. They are manufactured in a tree nut and peanut free facility as well.

Free2Be:

Find here

Free2Be products are great because they are "copycat" candies that are allergen friendly! For Halloween specifically, Free2Be has sunflower butter cups (like Reese's) that are top 12 allergen free (gluten, dairy, egg, fish, shellfish, tree nut, peanut, soy, sesame, mustard, corn, and coconut), certified vegan, certified gluten free, certified non-GMO, and certified kosher-pareve! They are even made in a dedicated facility that is also top 12 allergen free!

ZolliPops:

Buy here*

ZolliPops are a great option because they are not only allergen friendly, but they are anti-cavity! The company was started by a young girl who was disappointed that candy inherently meant bad for your teeth. These lollipops are made with ingredients that help clean your teeth! ZolliPops are sugar-free, non-GMO, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, vegan, natural, diabetic friendly, keto friendly, and kosher.

NoWhey Foods:

Buy here*

NoWhey Foods products are great because they are "copycat" candies that are allergen friendly! This brand has tons of options, but for Halloween, it would probably be easiest to buy their Choco No No's (copycat of M&Ms) because they come in individual packs without buying full candy bars (unless you are THAT super cool house). All of their candies are top 8 allergen free, kosher, vegan, all natural, and made in a dedicated gluten free facility!

Glee Gum:

Buy here*

These lollipops are awesome (and different from the others on this list) because they have a bubblegum center! They are allergen friendly, gluten free, certified kosher, and vegan! It is pretty exciting to have this option out there for kids because I know I loved Tootsie Pops as a kid, but they are chock full of allergens and artificial ingredients.

As you can see, there are plenty of options out there at various price points. I encourage you to participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project this year! You will make a little kid's day!
